Germany Deports First Afghan Citizens Since Taliban Takeover

Germany has deported the first Afghan citizens back to their homeland since the Taliban government seized power in August 2021. This move comes as Berlin faces increasing pressure to combat migration, according to AFP. The deported individuals were Afghan citizens convicted of crimes who were not eligible to remain in Germany and had deportation orders issued against them, confirmed government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit.
