German swimming pools are implementing price increases after a nine-year period of stable pricing, prompting questions about the rationale behind the move. According to Til Frömmel, director of the swimming pool operations, the decision was driven by escalating costs, particularly in personnel and energy, which have surged by approximately 36%. While the price increase will average around 15%, Frömmel emphasizes that the actual price paid by visitors will be lower due to discounts and special cards offered for various user groups, such as children and disabled individuals. The increased revenue will contribute to offsetting the rising operational expenses but will not substantially impact the financial situation of the local municipalities. The price increase will also affect school and sports club usage, with schools paying a higher fee for their use of the facilities.
