French politician Guillaume Duval has accused right-wing leaders of ‘irresponsibility’ for their refusal to accept the results of the recent legislative elections and allow the formation of a left-wing government. Duval argues that by clinging to the ‘chimerical’ equivalence they draw between La France Insoumise and the far-right Rassemblement National, they are undermining the republican front and ultimately playing into the hands of extremist forces. He warns that blocking a left-wing government could pave the way for the rise of the far-right, a dangerous consequence for French democracy.
