The opposition within the Brazilian Bar Association in Santa Catarina (OAB-SC) has regrouped, announcing the return of former president Tullo Cavalazzi Filho. The group, which contested the leadership of OAB/SC in 2021, has brought together leaders from nearly 30 sub-sections of the state. Cavalazzi is considered a frontrunner for a position on the Federal Council of the OAB, representing the opposition slate. The group, which includes former state and federal council member Leoberto Caon, has been highly critical of the current administration. Vivian De Gann, who is considered the leading contender for the presidency of the association in the upcoming November elections, also delivered a critical speech during the meeting. The return of Cavalazzi to the forefront of the opposition suggests a shift in strategy, with the challenging political landscape influencing their decision. The current OAB-SC leadership has already announced the candidacy of Juliano Mandelli, supported by current president Claudia Prudencio.
