Bindeshwari Singh, a prominent figure in Bihar’s left-wing political scene for over four decades, has joined the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) after leaving the Janata Dal (United). His decision was driven by his opposition to the JDU’s alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which he believes contradicts the principles of the socialist leader, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia. Singh, who was active in the JDU since 2000, has repeatedly voiced his dissent against the alliance, stating that it undermines the ideals of social justice and secularism that Lohia championed. His move signals a growing discontent within the JDU over the party’s political alignment with the BJP.
