Amr Moussa, the former Secretary-General of the Arab League, has accused Israel of violating the Arab Peace Initiative, a plan for a two-state solution that was proposed in 2002. Moussa stated that the Arab Peace Initiative, which offered Israel recognition and normalization in exchange for a withdrawal from occupied territories and the establishment of a Palestinian state, is the only balanced proposal available. He also criticized the international community for its inaction in holding Israel accountable for its actions in the West Bank. Moussa emphasized that the international community’s failure to address Israel’s violations of international law and its continued settlement expansion is emboldening the Israeli government. He stressed that a lasting peace in the region can only be achieved by fully implementing the Arab Peace Initiative, which includes the recognition of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and the right of return for Palestinian refugees.
