The prices of essential food items in Egypt have risen sharply, according to data from the Cabinet Information Center. Meat, sugar, rice, beans, flour, pasta, lentils, corn oil, poultry, and white cheese have all seen price increases compared to the previous day. The data, published on the Cabinet Information Center’s website, shows the average price of a kilogram of packaged rice increased by 5.15 Egyptian pounds to 34.1 pounds. Other notable price increases include packaged beans (up 6.32 pounds to 54.44 pounds), packaged flour (up 2.04 pounds to 26.51 pounds), and packaged sugar (up 3.6 pounds to 35.79 pounds). However, the price of Romy cheese declined, while prices for other goods like sunflower oil and eggs also saw some decreases. These price fluctuations are likely to impact Egyptian consumers, particularly those with limited incomes.
