A wildfire that ignited on Friday afternoon in Mazouco, a village in the municipality of Freixo de Espada à Cinta, has been reignited. The Douro Sub-Regional Command of Civil Protection reported that firefighting efforts are ongoing and resources are being constantly updated. As of 10:20 am, 81 firefighters, 22 vehicles, and three aerial units were involved in the firefighting operation, according to the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) website. At 5:45 am, the fire was in the aftermath stage, with 78 firefighters and 22 vehicles remaining at the site, according to the ANEPC portal. The fire alarm was triggered at 1:29 pm on Friday. Throughout the afternoon, the primary concern was to prevent the fire from spreading to the forest bordering the village of Masouco, located in the Douro International Natural Park.
