Fire Destroys Refuse Collection Trucks in Southern Italy

A fire broke out at the Impregico srl depot in Leporano, Italy, destroying eleven refuse collection trucks. The fire, which started around noon, caused significant damage to the company responsible for municipal waste collection and disposal. Firefighters from Taranto and Leporano’s Civil Protection unit extinguished the blaze. While the cause of the fire is currently under investigation, it is believed to have been accidental, starting in one compactor and spreading to others. The incident has caused disruptions to waste collection services across the municipality, including the coastal area and the Gandoli district. Mayor Vincenzo Damiano has assured residents that solutions are being sought in collaboration with the contracting company and has requested their patience while services are restored.
