The forum focused on the theme of ‘Telling the Story of the Chinese National Community,’ with participants exploring the potential of the internet in promoting unity and understanding across diverse cultures. Guo Weiping, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, highlighted the importance of a strong national identity in the new era, noting the positive impact of the internet in facilitating inter-ethnic communication and integration. Wu Dong, Deputy Chief Engineer and Director of the Secretariat Bureau of the Cyberspace Administration of China, stressed the need to leverage the internet’s reach to amplify positive narratives about the Chinese national community, building a shared sense of belonging and identity.
