Josh Waugh, 34, from Redcar, England, was banned from attending football matches for three years after assaulting a fellow fan during the Euro 2020 match between England and Serbia in Germany. The incident occurred on June 16, 2021, when Waugh punched the other fan, causing a broken jaw and nose, requiring surgery. Cleveland Police, who identified Waugh from a still image taken at the scene, said that the banning order was issued following a hearing at Teesside Magistrates’ Court. Police Constable Chris Hilton from Cleveland’s Football Policing Unit emphasized that violence would not be tolerated and that banning orders would be sought to deter such behavior.
