The Indian government is launching a new program to empower adolescent girls with skills for non-traditional careers, aiming to boost women’s participation in the workforce. This initiative will focus on girls aged 14-18, equipping them with the knowledge and training required for diverse career paths traditionally dominated by men. The program, set to launch within the next few weeks, will initially be piloted across 27 districts and eventually expand to encompass 218 districts nationwide. This effort underscores the government’s commitment to closing the gender gap in employment and providing opportunities for girls to pursue fulfilling careers in fields like technology, engineering, and skilled trades.
