A Brazilian judge has ordered the suspension of X (formerly Twitter) in the country, escalating a legal battle between the platform and Elon Musk. Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes issued the order after X failed to comply with a deadline to appoint a legal representative in Brazil. The judge had previously demanded the appointment following alleged violations of court orders, including the refusal to remove content deemed anti-democratic. X responded by accusing the judge of censorship and claiming that the platform expects its services to be suspended in Brazil. The company previously announced the cessation of its operations in the country, citing Moraes’s decisions as incompatible with democratic governance.
