Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Alexei Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom, the Russian state atomic energy corporation, to review the progress of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant construction. The meeting, held in the new Egyptian capital of El Alamein, was attended by key officials from both Egypt and Russia, including the Egyptian Ministers of Electricity and Finance. Madbouly emphasized the importance of the Dabaa project in Egypt’s plan to diversify its energy sources by increasing reliance on renewable energy by 2030. Likhachev, in turn, conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Prime Minister Madbouly. He also assured that the project is on track and is expected to reach 30% completion by the end of the year. The meeting also discussed the possibility of localizing nuclear technology in Egypt, a key step towards achieving the country’s renewable energy goals. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the project and expressed their desire to strengthen collaboration in the field of peaceful nuclear technology and renewable energy.
