Doha, the capital of Qatar, is a leading candidate to host the final matches of the inaugural FIFA Intercontinental Cup. This new tournament will bring together club champions from various continents, including Real Madrid (Spain), the European champion; Al Ahly (Egypt), the African champion; Auckland City (New Zealand), the Oceania champion; and Pachuca (Mexico), the CONCACAF champion. The South American champion will be decided on November 30th. The tournament will kick off on September 22nd with a match between Al Ain (UAE), the Asian champion, and Auckland City at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, UAE. Al Ahly will play their first match on October 29th, facing the winner of the Al Ain vs. Auckland City match in Cairo. According to the website Tambeh, the match between the winners of the initial two matches is expected to take place on December 14th, while the final is scheduled for December 18th in Doha.
