A woman in Alappuzha, India, underwent a caesarean surgery at Haripad Government Hospital, only to discover a bundle of cotton stitched into her abdomen. The incident has prompted a police case against the doctor, identified as Jain Jacob, for medical negligence. The 28-year-old woman, who was admitted for labor pains on July 23, experienced discomfort and swelling after the surgery. Despite a healthy baby, the woman’s condition worsened, leading to a blood clot and subsequent bleeding. She was transferred to Vandanam Medical College, where scans revealed the presence of medical waste, including cotton and cloth, in her stomach. The woman’s mother filed a complaint with the health minister, raising concerns about the doctor’s actions and the hospital’s response. Authorities are investigating the case further.
