The Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) in Rohtak is set to accelerate the Digital India campaign through its National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers. The university will leverage NSS volunteers as vigilant sentinels to raise awareness among youth about the initiative during the 2024-2025 academic year. MDU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajbir Singh, emphasized the role of NSS in promoting social responsibility among students during the annual meeting of the NSS Advisory Committee. The university plans to organize special programs focusing on cleanliness, drug eradication, disaster management, water conservation, and environmental protection. The Vice Chancellor encouraged NSS volunteers to work towards sustainable development in villages and instructed them to register on the ‘Mera Bharat’ portal. The university’s Kulsachiv, Prof. Gulshan Taneja, and Dean of Student Welfare, Prof. Randip Rana, also contributed suggestions for boosting NSS activities. Dr. Savita Rathi, the NSS Program Coordinator, presented a detailed account of past activities and future plans. The meeting was attended by several prominent figures, including Manoj Kumar from the Jat College, RD NSS, Delhi; Dr. Dinesh, the State NSS Officer; and principals from affiliated colleges.
