Deadly Clashes Erupt Between Herders and Farmers in Niger State

Five people were killed and several others injured in clashes between Fulani herders and farmers in Nigeria’s Niger state, according to reports in the national press. The violence occurred in the Bosso area of the state. The region has seen frequent violent clashes between herders and farmers, with Fulani herders accusing farmers of stealing their livestock and attacking them. The Fulani, a nomadic group spread across West and Central Africa, are the largest semi-nomadic tribe in Africa, numbering around 40 million people.
