CU, a leading convenience store chain in South Korea, has expanded its alcohol pickup service ‘CU BAR’ through a partnership with CatchTable, a popular fine dining reservation platform. The service allows customers to order from over 1600 alcohol products through the Pocket CU app and pick them up at a designated CU location. With CatchTable’s extensive user base of over 3.5 million monthly active users, the partnership aims to provide nationwide reach for the service. Customers will now have 24/7 access to a wide selection of alcohol, including popular whiskeys, beers, and wines, at their nearest CU store. The service initially launched in high-traffic areas like Seoul’s Myeongdong and Busan’s Haeundae, with plans to expand to more locations and alcohol categories in the future. CU’s alcohol pickup service has seen significant growth, with sales increasing 145.2% in 2022, 190.8% in 2023, and 178.1% in the first seven months of 2024. The company attributes this success to the convenience and competitive pricing offered by the service, which has become a popular purchasing pattern among all generations, including those in their 20s and 30s.
