Azerbaijan has been chosen to host the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku. The event will take place from November 11 to 22, 2024, marking the first time a COP will be held in the region. The conference aims to bring together world leaders, civil society organizations, businesses, and international institutions to discuss climate change, accelerate the implementation of the Paris Agreement, and focus on long-term climate strategies. Azerbaijan has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2030 and increasing this goal to 40% by 2050. The country views fulfilling commitments under the Paris Agreement as a top priority.
