A protest march by the Kerala Mahila Congress, demanding the resignation of MLA M. Mukesh, turned violent when protesters clashed with police outside his office in Kollam. The women attempted to breach police barricades and reach the MLA’s office, resulting in a push and shove between protesters and police. Some women managed to break through and placed a wreath at the gate of the MLA’s office while chanting slogans. Police arrested several Mahila Congress leaders, including district office bearers, who were later released on station bail. The protest was led by Mahila Congress State President Adv. JB Mether MP, who accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of shielding Mukesh, who is facing sexual assault charges. She criticized the Chief Minister for meeting with Mukesh, stating that it indicated a cover-up attempt and demanded his resignation. Other prominent Congress leaders, including KPCC Political Affairs Committee member Adv. Bindu Krishna, also spoke at the protest, reiterating the demand for Mukesh’s resignation.
