Greek coffee consumers are bracing for another price hike, effective from September 1st. This increase is directly linked to the government’s decision to reintroduce the 24% VAT on coffee. The price of the popular beverage is set to rise both in supermarkets and coffee shops. The wholesale price of Arabica beans has already increased by 40-45%, while Robusta beans have seen a 65% rise. Consumers can expect to see significant price jumps in supermarkets. Espresso capsules, currently around €5, are projected to reach €6, while ground espresso, currently at €6, could jump to €7.20. Greek coffee, currently priced at €3.90, is likely to increase to €4.70.
