China’s Top Lawmaker Calls for Strengthening Constitutional Governance and People’s Democracy

Zhao Leji, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, recently conducted an inspection tour in Zhejiang and Shanghai, emphasizing the importance of fully implementing the Constitution and promoting the high-quality development of the People’s Congress. During his visit, Zhao stressed the need to uphold the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. He emphasized that the People’s Congress must diligently fulfill its constitutional responsibilities, ensure the comprehensive implementation of the Constitution, and practice whole-process people’s democracy.
