The 17th Summer Paralympics officially opened in Paris, France, on August 29th. The Chinese Paralympic team, led by wheelchair fencer Gu Haiyan and weightlifter Qi Yongkai, proudly marched into the stadium carrying the national flag. The Games, which run until September 8th, feature 22 sports and 549 events, attracting over 4,400 athletes from 160 countries. This marks China’s 11th participation in the Summer Paralympics. The Chinese delegation comprises 516 members, including 284 athletes, coaches, support staff, and competition assistants. China is aiming for success in 19 sports and 302 events.
