China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced that it will soon resume travel from Fujian province to Kinmen, a Taiwanese island, following a request from a delegation of Kinmen county representatives. The announcement, made on September 30, did not specify a date for the resumption of travel. However, the news comes after a delegation of Kuomintang lawmakers and Kinmen county council members visited Beijing last week, advocating for the reopening of tourism between mainland China and Taiwan, specifically focusing on Kinmen. The Mainland Affairs Council, Taiwan’s government body responsible for cross-strait affairs, expressed its welcome to the move, reiterating its previous statements that it welcomes tourists from mainland China to visit Kinmen and Matsu.
