Chicken prices in Egypt have experienced a slight dip, with white broiler prices dropping by one Egyptian pound to reach 73 pounds at the main poultry market. This price decrease, however, doesn’t reflect the cost for consumers, who often pay over 80 pounds per kilogram. Meanwhile, prices for Sasso and breeder chickens remained stable at the main market. Sasso chickens are selling for 99 pounds per kilogram, while breeder chickens are priced at 64 pounds per kilogram. The price of a chick varies depending on its breed and age. For instance, white chicks cost 22 pounds, Sasso chicks sell for 14 pounds, and a 12-day-old bronze turkey chick is priced at 65 pounds. Prices for ducks also vary based on breed, with French ducks costing 16 pounds, Muscovy ducks priced at 32 pounds, and imported Muller ducks at 95 pounds. The price of a carton of eggs has stabilized for red and local varieties but increased by two pounds for white eggs. A carton of white eggs now costs 148 pounds, while a carton of red eggs costs 150 pounds and a carton of local eggs costs 140 pounds.
