Baraa Abu alroos, a 7-year-old boy from Gaza, arrived in Chicago in July with his mother and younger sister, seeking medical treatment for injuries sustained in a bombing. He was welcomed by the Musleh family, who have become his surrogate family, providing him with a loving home and crucial support during his recovery. The family’s journey was facilitated by HEAL Palestine, a non-profit organization dedicated to aiding injured Palestinian children. The Muslehs have gone above and beyond, ensuring Baraa and his family feel comfortable and safe, even hosting them during their frequent doctor appointments. The family’s story highlights the resilience of the human spirit and the power of community in offering hope and healing during times of great hardship.
