California authorities have cracked down on a sophisticated burglary ring, arresting nearly two dozen individuals suspected of stealing over 1,000 pounds of cannabis products worth close to $1 million. Dubbed ‘Operation Sticky Fingers,’ the investigation uncovered a network targeting numerous cannabis dispensaries across the state. California Attorney General Rob Bonta described the operation as a series of “coordinated schemes, organized efforts that hurt our businesses and pose a threat to our communities.” The investigation, which spanned nine counties and involved more than a dozen dispensaries, began in February following numerous incidents at dispensaries and cultivation sites. Authorities discovered that the suspects, linked to Oakland street gangs, had targeted a range of cannabis businesses throughout California, demonstrating a coordinated and widespread criminal enterprise. Most of the arrested suspects face serious charges, including organized retail crime, commercial burglary, conspiracy, and grand theft. This operation underscores the growing challenge of organized retail crime in the cannabis industry and serves as a warning that such activities will not be tolerated in California.
