Bus Driver’s Statement Highlights Missing Warning Signs in Fatal Istanbul Accident

A tragic bus accident in Istanbul’s Küçükçekmece district on August 29th resulted in one fatality and 53 injuries. The accident, which occurred in the early morning hours, has led to the arrest of nine individuals. The driver of the bus, currently under investigation, has given a statement claiming he was not speeding at the time of the accident. He attributed the crash to a sharp turn in the road that was not clearly marked with warning signs. The driver stated that he was attempting to slow down before reaching the Sefaköy ramp, but he did not notice the sharp turn ahead. The victim, identified as 22-year-old Ferhat Uçar, was laid to rest after a funeral prayer at the Esenyurt Uhut Mosque.
