A bear cub rescued in August with severe burns on its paws in Barniedo de la Reina, León, Spain, is making a remarkable recovery. The cub, which had suffered significant burns on the pads of its paws, has shown notable improvement after weeks of intensive care at the Wildlife Recovery Center (CRAS) in Valladolid. The cub, now weighing nearly 13 kg, has doubled its weight since arriving at the CRAS and is showing significant progress in its physical development. The cub has been moved to a larger enclosure connected to its original space, allowing for increased movement and muscle strengthening. The next stage of the cub’s recovery involves a transfer to a bear acclimatization enclosure in Valsemana, León, where it will gradually adapt to life in the wild. The ultimate goal is to reintroduce the cub back into its natural habitat after it has fully recovered.
