A head of a municipal agricultural service in Lovech, Bulgaria, has been arrested for bribery. The official was caught receiving a sum of money from an individual who had been issued illegal documents. The documents, which pertained to the redistribution of agricultural lands, were created by the official for large-scale farmers in exchange for payments. These documents were used by the farmers to apply for and receive European subsidies. The official was apprehended while accepting the payment for the illegal documents, and faces charges of bribery, which carries a sentence of 3 to 10 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing, and the identity of the municipality involved is being withheld for the time being.
