Building Collapse in Kano Kills Woman, Injures Children

A tragic incident occurred in the Makwarari quarters of Kano, Nigeria, on Friday when a one-story building collapsed, claiming the life of a 35-year-old woman, Balarabe Tijjani, and injuring her two young children. The collapse was attributed to a prolonged downpour that lasted from Thursday night into Friday morning. The mother and her children, Abdulnasir (11) and Abdallah (13), were rescued from the rubble and rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital. Sadly, Tijjani succumbed to her injuries while her children are receiving treatment. Local residents and the State Fire Service worked together to rescue the victims. The incident highlights the importance of building safety and preparedness for extreme weather events.
