Construction of Bogotá’s Metro Line 1, a project aiming to significantly improve urban mobility and contribute to environmental sustainability, is progressing rapidly. The IDU, the city’s infrastructure agency, has highlighted the project’s advancement, with works spanning nearly 24 kilometers. The viaduct, a key component, is already transforming Bogotá’s cityscape, with over 80 columns erected across various locations. The launch girders, responsible for installing the dovels that will form the U-shaped beam for train travel, are fully operational. Eight of these girders will be used simultaneously to shape the viaduct. Construction in the Bosa district includes building facilities and an electrical substation, forming the operational heart of Line 1. Meanwhile, structures for the first stations are rising on Avenida Primero de Mayo, while new columns and stations for both TransMilenio and the Metro are soon to be built on Avenida Caracas. The highly anticipated traffic interchange at the intersection of Avenida Caracas and Calle 72 is nearing completion.
