Bowden Francis pitched seven innings, allowing only one hit, to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 2-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox. This victory marked the Blue Jays’ fourth consecutive win. Francis, who had a no-hitter going into the ninth inning against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday, continued his strong pitching with a dominant performance against the Red Sox. He struck out five batters and walked one in his 70-pitch outing. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Ernie Clement, and Brian Serven led the Blue Jays’ offense with two hits each. Guerrero and Clement each drove in a run. Genesis Cabrera and Chad Green pitched scoreless innings to close out the game. Green earned his 16th save of the season after striking out Mickey Gasper with two outs in the ninth inning. Nick Sogard and Danny Jansen recorded the only two hits for the Red Sox. The Red Sox’ starting pitcher, Kutter Crawford, took the loss after pitching six and two-thirds innings, giving up two runs.
