Barcelona Signs Promising American Footballer Pedro Soma

Barcelona’s youth academy continues to attract promising talent, adding 18-year-old American footballer Pedro Soma to their ranks. Soma, who also holds Brazilian citizenship, will initially join the U-19 team, coached by former Barcelona player Juliano Belletti. Despite Barcelona’s challenging financial situation, the club’s scouts have been actively seeking young talent to bolster their academy. Soma, who was born in Florida, moved to Barcelona in 2018 and earned his chance at lower-league side Cornellà. Barcelona scouts were impressed by Soma’s skills and potential, leading to his inclusion in the club’s youth system. He is expected to also feature for Barcelona B team. Soma’s talent has been recognized on the international stage, as he has regularly featured for the USA youth national teams, even being a key player in their 2022 U-17 World Cup campaign.
