Bangladesh’s Islamic Foundation Under Scrutiny: Corruption Probe and Restructuring Plans

The Religious Affairs Advisor of Bangladesh, Dr. A.F.M. Khalid Hossain, has announced plans to investigate corruption allegations within the Islamic Foundation (IF) and the Model Mosque project. This follows concerns about the IF’s deviation from its core mission and alleged misuse of funds. A high-powered committee will be formed to investigate the IF’s financial irregularities, with investigations into the Model Mosque project being conducted separately. Dr. Hossain also emphasized the need to restructure the IF, emphasizing its political neutrality and ensuring its adherence to Islamic principles. The Advisor stated that a restructuring plan includes deploying experienced IF officers to field positions and replacing them with qualified individuals from the field, aiming to bring a fresh perspective and improve efficiency.
