The Azores Regional Government has appealed to TAP Portugal to increase flight connections or available seats on its routes to Terceira Island. The appeal stems from growing demand and passenger constraints due to limited flight availability. The Vice-President of the Azorean Executive, Artur Lima, highlighted the positive passenger occupancy rates on TAP flights to Terceira but emphasized the need for expanded capacity. He met with TAP’s CEO, Luís Rodrigues, to discuss potential solutions, including increased flight frequency and larger aircraft. Lima expressed enthusiasm about Rodrigues’s understanding of the Azores’ unique challenges and highlighted TAP’s significant role in the region’s mobility. He also proposed the exploration of new international routes from Terceira, particularly to North America, including the United States and Canada.
