The body of a prominent Awami League leader, Ishaq Ali Khan Panna, was found in Meghalaya, India, near the Bangladesh border. Panna, a former general secretary of the Bangladesh Chhatra League and a key member of the Awami League in Pirojpur district, had gone into hiding after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government on August 5th. His body was discovered in a plantation in the Jaintia Hills district, 1.5 kilometers from the border. Police identified him through his passport. Initial reports suggest Panna may have died of a heart attack while attempting to cross the border. Meanwhile, four more cases have been filed against former cabinet members and aides of Sheikh Hasina, bringing the total number of cases against them to 75.
