The city of Shajapur in Madhya Pradesh observed the 40th day of mourning, known as Chehlum, in remembrance of the martyrs of Karbala. The highlight of the event was the procession of Asia’s largest ‘Dul Dul’, a symbolic structure used in mourning rituals. The procession began late Wednesday night from the Sarafa Bazaar area and traversed through narrow streets, attracting large crowds. The ‘Dul Dul’ was eventually placed in Chhota Chauk, where it remained for the duration of the mourning period. This annual tradition, drawing thousands of participants from surrounding areas, has been observed in Shajapur for many years. The procession, which began at 11 pm, concluded in the early hours of the morning.
