The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed el-Tayeb, and Al-Azhar scholars have expressed their profound condolences to the Sudanese people, offering their heartfelt sympathies for the victims of the recent floods that have ravaged the country. These devastating floods have resulted in numerous casualties, missing persons, and widespread destruction, adding to the existing suffering of Sudan, which has endured over 500 days of conflict. Al-Azhar calls upon the Arab and Islamic world to urgently provide aid to Sudan, assisting them in overcoming the hardships of war, conflict, famine, and disease outbreaks. The institution urges the establishment of a global aid campaign to offer all forms of support to the Sudanese people in these challenging and sorrowful times. While offering condolences, Al-Azhar prays for the deceased, seeking divine mercy and forgiveness for them. Prayers are also offered for the healing of the injured and for the easing of the Sudanese people’s suffering. Al-Azhar hopes for unity among the Sudanese, seeking a resolution that benefits their nation, while praying for their protection from any harm.
