Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and NCP president, Ajit Pawar, has downplayed the controversy sparked by Shiv Sena minister Tanaji Sawant’s recent comments criticizing his party. Pawar stated that he prioritizes serving the people and ignores criticism, emphasizing his focus on fulfilling his responsibilities. Sawant, the state’s health minister, had made remarks about feeling like vomiting after attending cabinet meetings alongside NCP members. These comments highlighted existing tensions within the ruling Mahayuti coalition, which comprises the BJP, the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction. Despite the friction, Pawar reiterated his commitment to working for the people of Maharashtra, dismissing the criticism as inconsequential to his work.
