Police in Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh, India, have seized 912 kilograms of marijuana and arrested two individuals in connection with the drug trafficking operation. According to the district’s Superintendent of Police (SP), M. Deepika, the contraband was being transported from Odisha state. Police conducted a routine vehicle check on Sunday evening near Gullepalli Junction in Sabbavaram mandal, leading to the discovery of the marijuana concealed in a lorry. The seized marijuana, estimated to be worth ₹45.6 lakhs, was found hidden in a secret compartment behind the driver’s cabin. The lorry driver, identified as Barawat Tarun (22) from Palakurthi mandal, Janagama district, Telangana, and a route guide, Sethi Malleshwar Rao (24) from Panasputtu village in Malkanagiri district, were arrested. Authorities also recovered four mobile phones and ₹15,000 in cash during the operation. The SP stated that five other individuals are currently on the run and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
