Anthony Pace, a fifth-grader from Westmoor, has proven that he’s not just savvy about the stock market, but also a gifted writer. Pace recently won first place in the state of Illinois in the Elementary School Division of the 2024 InvestWrite national essay competition. His essay, which reflected on his experience participating in The Stock Market Game, a program where students manage a virtual $100,000 portfolio, impressed judges with its insights and writing style. The competition, sponsored by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association Foundation (SIFMA) Foundation, saw Pace outshine 958 other students nationwide. Pace’s teacher, Nick Grigolo, praised his dedication and talent, highlighting his ability to go above and beyond expectations. Pace’s essay, which included his investment strategy of buying low and selling high, earned him a state title and recognition for his financial literacy skills.
