A village in Uttar Pradesh, India, was thrown into a state of panic when nearly two dozen pythons were discovered in a government-owned tubewell water tank. The sight of so many snakes caused widespread fear among residents, who were hesitant to even venture into their fields. The forest department was alerted, and a team successfully rescued the snakes after a challenging operation due to the tank’s depth. The rescue effort involved the removal of 24 pythons, including a venomous krait snake, from the tank, marking the largest such rescue operation in the region. Following the rescue, the snakes were safely released back into their natural habitat in the Chambal Sanctuary.
